Before you understand what you're seeing, you feel it—a rush of green like the first day warm enough to leave the windows open. The painting holds the chaos of a garden table after a summer lunch: glasses half-empty, fruit bowls tilted, flowers losing petals into the afternoon heat. There is something deeply familiar here, though nothing resolves into certainty. The violet mass at top could be hydrangeas nodding in breeze, or perhaps the remembered shape of someone leaning over the table to pour wine. The golden orbs clustered at center glow with the particular warmth of late-season stone fruit—apricots, maybe, or small peaches grown heavy and sweet. Scattered around the composition's edges, smaller marks appear like afterthoughts, the way memory edits a scene: here a smear of pink that might have been a napkin, there a stroke of brown recalling weathered wood.
